ARTIST BIO

Lottie Rowlands, born 1998, is a South Wales based artist from Shropshire. She is currently studying at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Swansea.

Lottie's practice has a firm focus on the unfiltered emotions of people, often children. By choosing to paint these portraits, she hopes to reflect how raw emotion can be seen, and encourage viewers to rediscover this vunerable aspect within themselves. 

By choosing a more traditional approach to painting, alongside using oil paints, Lottie hopes to bridge a link between contemporary art compared to historical pieces.

She has a firm interest in portraiture, as it allows for a conversation to occur between the painting and the viewer as they meet one another. This allows for conceptions to be made between them, without any judgement or fear.
